Overview

Commerce Vision's CSS websites include an out-of-the-box Article functionality that can be used in various scenarios. Whether it's latest news, blogs, or FAQs, our article system can help you communicate more effectively with your customers.

Article Types

Articles are grouped into various types, which can then be displayed by article widgets. Grouping your articles helps to keep them organised by function. For example, you might create one article type for FAQs, another for blog posts, and still another for press releases.

To create an article type:

  1. In the CMS, navigate to Content → Articles
  2. Click 'Add New Article Type'.
  3. Assign your new group a Code, a Name, and an optional Icon (for display in the CMS).

  4. Click 'Save'.

Articles

Once you've got an article type (or 2 or 3) set up, you can begin creating the articles themselves.

To create an article:

  1. In the CMS, navigate to Content → Articles
  2. Select the Article Type you want your new article to be grouped in.
  3. Click 'Add New Article'.
  4. Enter a Description for your article. This will display as the article's title
  5. The article's SEO URL, Browser Page Title, and SEO Description will also be auto-populated based on the value you enter here. You can override any of these if you wish.
  6. The Posted Date will auto-populate with today's date. If you wish, you can also enter Start & Expiry dates for articles you'd like to display on a schedule.
  7. Select or upload a thumbnail image for the article. This will be the small image that displays when viewing a list of articles.
  8. Select or upload the main image for the article. This will be the larger image that displays on the article detail page.
  9. Enter some 'teaser' text in the Summary section. This is the short-form content displayed when viewing a list of articles.
  10. Enter the main body of the article in the Content section. Use the WYSIWYG editing tools to update font sizes, formats, and colours based on your site's style guide.
  11. If you'd only like this article to display to a certain segment of your site users, you can enter Filter values based on the Customer, User, or Role.
  12. Click  'Save & Exit'.

Article Widgets

Article widgets are used to display your article content on the website. There are 3 main templates related to articles, each containing the relevant widgets. You can edit these to suit your site's requirements.

  1. Article List Page - this is the general layout for the page which displays all articles of a certain type.
  2. Article List Item Zoned - this is the layout for the contene of each individueal article in the list.
  3. Article Page Zoned - this is the layout for the article detail content; the page the user sees when they click to "View More".

Each of the above templates contains various widgets to display the article content. For examplee, your articl page template might have the following widgets:

You can drag and drop the widgets to display them in a difffentr order, and if you want to get really creative, you can use the Custom Layout Creator to customis the look enand feel of the pagg completet.y

Would you like to use the ARticle system to display your FAQs with a toggle effect? Simply enter the Question into the Description field, and the Answer into the Summary field. Leave the Content and image fields blank.

Then enable Toggle on the widget. and disable the hyperlink.

Move this to its own article, I think....
