Overview

Allowing users to easily locate products via search is vital for any website. Customer Self Service allows control over which product fields are searchable. For example, product code, APN, or ERP description.

When marking fields as searchable, be mindful of the total number of fields that are marked searchable and the content in these fields. These fields should add value to the search by returning better results if ticked.

Please Note - this is only applicable where Lucene Search is NOT enabled. For information on how to use Lucene Search, see Lucene Relevance Based Search - Set Up.

Step-by-step guide

To mark a field against the product property as searchable:

  1. Login as an Administrator.
  2. Navigate to 'Settings' --> 'Dictionary'.
  3. Enter 'Product' in the Table Name.
  4. Click 'Define'.
  5. Enter the name of the field in the 'Search For' area.
  6. Select 'Contains' or 'Starts With'.
  7. Click 'Search'.
  8. Select the field required.
  9. Click 'Modify'.
  10. Tick the 'Search Field' box.
  11. Click 'OK' to save changes.
