Product Search - Static Content Search

In typical use, the Search facility ('Product Search' widget) on your website site (usually located in the themes layout) is used by website visitors to look for products. They type in keywords, usually product names or codes, and the search results find products you sell based on keywords that have been are selling linked to each productthose keywords. Content (web) pages that contain these the keywords are not automatically indexed and so, are not included in the results. You can now choose to include such content if you wish, or even add another Search facility just for finding such pages.

Content Search work?

When 'Static Content Search' is selected to be included in the Search facility, the search engine will index publicly accessible page content for the Search facilityso it is searchable.

Step-by-step guide

Follow these steps to configure the 'Include Content Search functionality ' for your site.

1. Turn on Content Search

  1. To turn on this the Content Search feature, go navigate to Settings → Feature Management → Content

  2. Toggle In the list of features, toggle on Content Search and click Configure.


  3. Toggle In the 'Content Search Settings' window, toggle on Enable Content Search Feature.


  4. In Page Content Reindex Task Start Date, set the schedule to a few minutes in the future.

  5. In Page Content Reindex Task Period in Minutes, accept the default or enter the period in minutes before the system will reindex content pages.

  6. To save any changes and exit, click Save and Exit.

2. Configure Indexing Settings

Content pages on your site need to be analysed and added to the search engine's database of web pages to be included in searches. The system takes advantage of Lucene's indexing and searching features to maximise its search capabilities.  

  1. In CMS, navigate to Advanced Settings → Lucene Search Settings.

  2. Select the Index Settings tab.

  3. To enable indexing, tick the Enabled checkbox.



  4. Tick Perform Partial Word Searches.
    Select the Search Type: 'Matching Terms'.
    Image Removed (recommended). If this is enabled, as the user types in the search box, products linked to a partial (unfinished) word will be displayed. Leave this box unticked if you want the search to find the exact whole word entered.  (Note - partial words in content pages will not appear.) - check

  5. To save the settings, click Update.

  6. Click the Indexing tab.

  7. To initiate re-indexing of the content of all reindex content pages, click the Reindex Page Content button.

The Product Search widget, which provides the search facility on on your site, needs to be set to include static content pages

  1. Navigate to Content → Page & Templates → Theme Layout.

  2. Click the Theme Layout option.

  3. Locate the Product Search widget and click Edit. In our example, the Product Search this widget is under Zone:HeaderColumn2.

  4. Locate In the Product Search window, locate Static Content Search and select 'Include Static Content Search'. (Note - if you are creating a search for content pages only, then select 'Static Content Search Only'.)

  5. If you want to limit the number of results returned for content pages , scroll in the search box,
    a. Scroll down to 'Limit the Product and Static Content Result Returned?' and ensure it is toggled on.
    b. In 'Static Content Search Result to Display', enter the maximum number of results to appear.

    If there are more results than the maximum number, the button 'View More Pages' will appear for the customer user to click to view more results.

  6. If 'Show Product Search Suggestions' is on, click on the Titles tab and change the search results headings edit the 'Search Suggestions Heading text' as required.
  7. Click Save and if your site is in Page Preview mode, click Publish to effect the changes on your site.
