This article is aimed at a web administrator of an e-commerce site using the Commerce Vision Customer Self Service Web Application that is wanting to implement different category templates for users based on their role. For example, having the site display differently for a B2B and B2C user when browsing pages using category templates.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Navigate to zRoles.aspx
  2. Select the role that requires the role specific template
  3. Select the Functions tab
  4. In the field 'Category Template Suffix' add the value to be used as a suffix for category templates that will only apply to users of this role. For example the B2C role may use a suffix of 'B2C' or the B2B role may use a suffix of 'B2B.

  5. Identify the category template that is in use for the site at the appropriate level whether it be category, user, role or system and create a new template using the chosen suffix.
eg.      Default Category Template = 'CategoryTemplate'
               B2B Role Category Template = 'CategoryTemplateB2B'
               B2C Role Category Template = 'CategoryTemplateB2C'

NOTE: The default setting will remain as 'CategoryTemplate' and this will be used for any role that does not have a Category Template Suffix set.

If a role does not have a Category Template Suffix set, it will default to the defined Category Template. (This is the suffix free version of the template)
