Overview

The delivery date of an order is typically determined by the business but is assumed to be ASAP ('As Soon As Possible'). You can add a section to the Checkout page to allow logged in users to specify a preferred future delivery date instead. If this section appears, the user has to choose between ASAP and entering a preferred date.

On this page:

Step-by-step guide

For the Preferred Delivery Date section to display, add the Forward Orders Widget to the Checkout template. Most label and display options are configured in the widget. Because of the complexity of functions and options on the Checkout page, there are a few other steps that are needed as well.

1. Add the Forward Orders Widget

  1. In the CMS, navigate to ContentPages & TemplatesCheckout.

  2. Click Edit for the Checkout template.

  3. In the zone you want the Preferred Delivery Date section to display, click Add Widget. TIP- Recommended placement: 'Zone: Step1'

  4. Find the Forward Orders Widget and click Add Widget.

  5. Edit the widget options as you require. For a guide, see: Forward Orders Widget.

  6. Save your changes.

2. Check Quotes settings

The Quotes feature need to be enabled and set to Standard, Advanced with Freight or Pronto Approved. Otherwise, this feature will not display correctly on the Checkout page.

To configure the Quotes setting:

  1. In the CMS, go to SettingsFeature Management → Payment & Checkout.

  2. Enable Quotes, then click Configure.
  3. ln Quote Mode Selection select either Standard, Advanced with Freight or Pronto Approved.

  4. Click Save & Exit

3. Set default Delivery Type

For each Role, you must set which delivery type option the Checkout page will default to the first time the user goes to the Checkout page. If ForwardOrder (here labelled as 'Preferred Date') is set, the Enter Date field is automatically displayed. NOTE - If this is not set, the feature will not display properly.

  1. In the CMS, go to UsersRoles (if accessing this on the Admin menu on the website, Roles (zRoles.aspx)
  2. Click the radio button next to the required role.

  3. Click the Functions tab.

  4. Click Modify.

  5. Scroll down to Default Forward Order Mode.

  6. Select either ASAP or ForwardOrder.

  7. To save, click OK.

4. Edit the default preferred delivery type labels (optional)

By default, the labels for the preferred delivery type are 'As Soon as Possible' and 'Back to School'. These may not be suitable for your business.

To edit these labels:

  1. In the CMS, go to ContentAdvanced Content → Resources.

  2. To edit 'As Soon as Possible', in the Search tool, enter rcDynamicServiceForwardOrder_ASAP, then click Search. To edit 'Back to School', in the Search tool, enter rcDynamicServiceForwardOrder_FWD.
  3. Once you have entered the resource name, click Search.

  4. Click Modify.

  5. Edit Resource Value. This is displayed to users on the Checkout page.

  6. (Optional) If you wish to add a useful description for your team members with access to Resources, enter a Description. This is not displayed to users.

  7. To save, click OK.
