We've improved our standard workflow when adding a new widget to a template. The widget settings window will open automatically for you to configure options straight away. We've also added an 'enable' toggle right near the Save button, so you can decide whether or not you're ready to make the new widget active as you add it.
This should save quite a few clicks for the busy CMS user.
