This article is aimed at website administrators and content editors and outlines how to maintain product meta tag information on a Commerce Vision Customer Self Service powered website.

Step-by-step guide

There are three ways to customise Meta information as explained below

  1. Login as an administrator

  2. From the menu, select Settings -- This is to set the Global level meta tag settings in the General tab.
  3. From the menu, select Content -> Menu Editor. By drilling down to a menu Item, you can customise the Meta Information for that item. eg. A custom page or static content page.
  4. At the Category Level - From the menu, select Preferences -> Upload Category Images and Texts. In the Administrator role there is a MetaData tag. Search for the Category to add Category Specific Meta Information.

What meta data settings will be used on my page?

The preference to determine what meta data keywords and description are used are as follows:

  1. Use default from system
  2. Use the Menu Items
  3. Use Product Category first

By default the system uses the Global settings for the Meta tag key words and Meta tag descriptions. If there are any Menu items described, then this will override the Global settings of the Meta tags. Also, if there are any Product Category meta tags described, then this will over ride all of the above.
