Once a page has been saved, follow these steps to edit the Page Route. This is especially useful for Custom pages, to give them meaningful URLs for SEO and your users.

Sequence - Order the page routes are interpreted. New page routes do not necessarily need to have unique values assigned.

Page routes are checked each time a search is performed. Lower sequence numbers are examined first – therefore frequently used pages (i.e. 'Home', 'Login') should have a lower value than pages such as 'Terms & Conditions', which might only be viewed occasionally.

Users can be redirected to Specials/Campaign pages from a URL. First, create a Page Route for the Custom Page or Template.

Then simply include the URL with an 'R' parameter prefacing the Custom Page name: http://mywebsite.com.au/login.aspx?R=mycampign

This feature is automatically implemented for 4.31+. If your site uses custom canonical URLs, consult with Commerce Vision to disable or configure this feature.


Canonical URLs help SEO crawlers index public pages more efficiently by nominating a URL as the master one when there are possibly duplicate pages. The canonical URL is indexed and displayed in search results.


Here is a simple example. The actual home page for a site is a named page, e.g., '/home.aspx'.

A SEO URL / page route has been added so that the page name is not displayed in the URL.

You can check if a page has a canonical link by inspecting the source code. While on a page, press F12 (or right-click, then Inspect). Look between the <head></head> tags for <link rel="canonical, followed by the canonical link.
