Trim words allow commonly used suffixes to be 'trimmed' (i.e. have the leading space removed) to improve search results.

Trimming occurs both during indexing and searching to ensure consistency of handling of these type of terms.

For example, with a Trim Word of 'gsm', '100 gsm' as a search term or indexed text will be treated as '100gsm'. This means that a user can search for "100 gsm" or "100gsm" and find all products that contain either "100gsm" or "100 gsm"

Trim words are maintained through the "Trim Words" tab of the Lucene Settings Maintenance page.
