Allowing users to easily locate products via a search is vital for any website. You can control which product fields are searchable, e.g., product code, APN, or ERP description.
When marking fields as searchable, be mindful of the total number of fields that are marked searchable and the content in these fields. These fields should add value to the search by returning better results if ticked.
Step-by-step guide
To mark a field against the product property as searchable:
- Login as an Administrator.
- Navigate to 'Settings' --> 'Dictionary'.
- Enter 'Product' in the Table Name.
- Click 'Define'.
- Enter the name of the field in the 'Search For' area.
- Select 'Contains' or 'Starts With'.
- Click 'Search'.
- Select the field required.
- Click 'Modify'.
- Tick the 'Search Field' box.
- Click 'OK' to save changes.
