Article Templates and Widgets

Article templates and widgets are used to display article-related content on the website. There are 3 main standard default templates related to for articles, and each containing contains various widgets. Depending on your site's requirements and version, you can use these templates, edit them, or override them and use custom article templates. For detailed help with these templates, see Article Templates help.

  1. Article List Page - default template for listing articles of a defined type on a page. This is the default list page template automatically used if Used 'Use Zoned Article Layout?' is not enabled in the Article List or Article List All widget. 
  2. Article List Item Zoned - template for listing articles if Used 'Use Zoned Article Layout?' is enabled. 
  3. Article Page Zoned - zoned template for the article's content (i.e., the detail page the user sees when they click to 'read more') if the 'Use Zoned Article Template' setting is enabled

Each of the above templates uses various widgets to display the article content. For example, your article page zoned template might have the following widgets: 

You can drag and drop these widgets to rearrange them into a different order, if you wish. Or if you want to get really creative, you can use the Layout Creator to customise the look and feel of this page completely. 


To access any of these templates and configure the widgets in them,

  1. Navigate to ContentPages & Templates → Articles.

  2. Click Design on the template you wish to update, then add / edit / remove widgets as required.

You can also add an Article List widget or an Article Slider widget to any custom page. In this case, the 'Article List Page' template would not be referenced. In the widget used, if the setting 'Use Zoned Article Layout?' is enabled, the Article List Item Zoned template will be used. If off, the default is the Article List Item template.
