Want this feature?

Content Lock is a CV ecommerce multisite content management feature. It can also be used to restrict content editing to specific roles on a single site. Contact Commerce Vision to enable.

Requires: 2022:3.

How Content Lock Works

Content Lock can provide content management:

  • on a single site: with its roles-based permission system
  • across multiple sites: with its roles-based system used with Deploy Content, for source site control.

Role-based permissions

Content Administrator role: When Content Lock is enabled on your site, this role is added.

  • This Content Administrator role can control:
  • on a single or source site: lock and unlock data types and items
  • on a single or source site: add, edit and delete locked objects
  • on a target site: control what locked content is deployed to networked target sites (if Deploy Content is used with Lock Content)
  • on a target site: unlock deployed content for editing (if Deploy Content is used with Lock Content)

NOTE - The CMS Admin has all Content Admin permissions by default.

Enable Content Lock

CMS Admin and Content Admin roles can enable and disable content locking on a site after the feature has been switched on by Commerce Vision.

To enable/disable locking:

  1. In the CMS, go to SettingsSettingsFeature Management ContentContent Lock.

  2. Toggle ON/OFF Content Lock

Assign Roles

With Content Lock enabled, a CMS Administrator can assign the Content Administrator role to specific users who are to manage content locking. Other users will be able to view but not edit locked content. NOTE -  Non-admin users cannot view widget contents when the widget or template is locked.
