Want this feature?

Content Lock is a CV ecommerce multisite content management feature. It can also be used to restrict content editing to specific roles on a single site. Contact Commerce Vision to enable.

Requires: 2022:3.

How Content Lock Works

Content Lock provides the Administrator and/or Content Administrator roles with content control:

  • on a single site - lock/unlock specific content from other roles
  • on multiple sites - lock/unlock specific content of target sites remotely from a source site (when used with Deploy Content).

Role-based permissions

Content Administrator role: When Content Lock is enabled on your site, this role becomes availlable.

  • The Content Administrator role can:
  • on a single or source site: lock and unlock data types and items
  • on a single or source site: add, edit and delete locked objects
  • on a target site: control what locked content is deployed to networked target sites (if Deploy Content is used with Lock Content)
  • on a target site: unlock deployed content for editing (if Deploy Content is used with Lock Content)

NOTE - The CMS Administrator role as superuser has all Content Admin permissions by default.

Enable Content Lock

The Content Lock feature must be enabled on each site by Commerce Vision. NOTE - If Content Lock and Deploy Content are enabled on a source site but NOT on a target site, locked content will be deployed as unlocked content. It can be edited on the target site.

When Content Lock is enabled, the feature does not display the 'Contact to Enable' button.

Assign Roles

With Content Lock enabled, a CMS Administrator can assign the Content Administrator role to specific users who are to manage content locking. Other users will be able to view but not edit locked content. NOTE -  Non-admin users cannot view widget contents when the widget or template is locked.
