Want this feature?

Content Deploy is a Commerce Vision multisite feature. Category data can only be deployed with Online Category Maintenance mode.

Requires 4.38+.

Overview

For multisite control, deploying site CMS Administrator and Content Administrator roles can publish specific online-maintained category data to valid linked sites. NOTE - This data is not lockable. Content managers of destination sites can always rollback your changes or make further edits.

What can be deployed?

  • category banners
  • category tree structures (excluding products)
  • category hierarchy of products
  • category details
  • category SEO details
  • custom fields for categories

On this page:

Step-by-step guide

1. Enable Category Deploy

  1. In the CMS, go to Settings  Settings  Feature Management → Content  Linked Sites.

  2. Ensure Linked Sites is enabled, then click Configure.

  3. In Deployment, toggle ON deploy for Category Maintenance.

  4. Click Save or Save & Exit

2. Deploy category changes

This step assumes you have category data ready to deploy. Deployable data for a category are from Category Maintenance in Online mode.

To deploy category data:

  1. Go to E-commerce → Products & Categories → Category Maintenance.

  2.  Do you want to deploy data from multiple categories or a single category?

    1. Multiple categories - click Deploy at the top right of the page.
    2. Single category - find the category, hover over its Options, then click Deploy.

  3. Follow the steps in the Deploy modal:

    1. Toggle ON the data type(s) to deploy.

    2. Toggle ON a category to deploy. If you're deploying multiple categories, toggle ON each one or Select All.

    3. Click Next.

    4. Toggle ON a linked site(s) to deploy to.

    5. Click Next.

    6. Check deploy data and details are correct, then click Deploy

  4. In the next modal window, check whether deployment was successful or failed,

Successful deployments - the progress bar reaches step 4 'Results' and has a 'Successful' message. You can also click the link (2) to see the deployment details.

Unsuccessful deployments - the progress bar remains at step 3 'Summary' and the failed message is displayed. Review this deployment's data and details for issues before trying again.

What does Successful, Partially Successful and Failure mean?

Multiple data types selected - When more than one data type have been selected in the Deploy modal (step 1), all of these must be deployed successfully on a linked site for the whole deployment instance to be successful. Even if only one data type fails to deploy to the site, the deployment instance will fail and no changes will be deployed to this site.

Multiple linked sites selected - When multiple linked sites have been selected in the Deploy modal, the results can display as 'partially successful'. This means all data types were successfully deployed to at least one site but also failed for at least one site.
